Benefitting from Saving Potentials

F'IS at InnoTrans 2008 - Innovative Mounting and Dismounting  Solutions - Reconditioning and Maintenance Management

Herzogenrath/Berlin, Sept. 23, 2008 - At this year's InnoTrans in Berlin, FAG Industrial Services (F'IS) is presenting a comprehensive range of product and service solutions for the maintenance of railway technology from September 23-26, 2008. On the booth of Schaeffler Group Industrial (Hall 21, Booth 225), the company places special focus on FAG PowerTherm mounting/dismounting tools and the reconditioning of TAROL bearings as well as solutions for effective maintenance management.

FAG PowerTherm heating equipment works according to the induction principle, thus enabling efficient and energy-saving bearing installation. Compared with conventional methods (heating furnace, heating plate and oil bath), the induction heating process enables significant time savings to be achieved. In many cases this means that customers can reduce downtimes. In addition, operators can choose between time or temperature-based control for these environmentally compatible devices which are particularly suitable for reliable batch mounting.

Reconditioning of TAROL axlebox bearing units is another focus at the Schaeffler booth. The periodic high-quality maintenance and repair clearly extends the operating life of these heavily stressed vehicle components. Thanks to the speedy maintenance process, the customer also benefits from minimal downtimes. Maintenance consists of thorough cleansing of all bearing components as well as dimensional and functional inspections of the entire bearing unit. The axial clearance is readjusted and the bearings are regreased. Wear and tear parts are replaced wherever required. If requested by the customer, the bearing will be included in a database. This service offer applies to all axlebox bearings as well as cylindrical, spherical and tapered roller bearings.

Furthermore, F'IS can provide support when it comes to the introduction of maintenance management systems, assisting its customers in standardizing and optimizing their in-house maintenance processes. This helps to prevent, for example, redundant data processing and the multiple entry of data. Interdepartmental information exchange is improved as well. This makes it possible to save costs in materials management and ensures accelerated processing of maintenance measures.

These solutions are examples of how maintenance departments in the railway sector can open up and take advantage of saving potentials. Thus, products and services from FAG Industrial Services form the basis of effective maintenance management.
