F'IS at Maintain 2008 - Products and solutions for the safe mounting and dismounting of bearings - Plug and play vibration measurement and maintenance management
Herzogenrath, Oct. 14, 2008 - At Maintain, the International Trade Fair for Industrial Maintenance that will take place in Munich from 14 - 16 October 2008, FAG Industrial Services (F'IS) will showcase products and services for the inspection, maintenance and repair of machines and plants. These include methods for a more reliable mounting and dismounting of bearings, vibration measurement systems for predictive maintenance and solutions for an effective maintenance management. The solutions presented at the booth show how companies can increase the availability of machines and realise significant cost savings by means of proactive maintenance.
Vital preconditions for a long bearing service life are an optimal bearing design and expert mounting. For this reason, the Schaeffler Group offers a wide range of standard and precision rolling bearings as well as suitable mounting and dismounting tools.
The FAG Mounting Manager calculation program is a convenient aid for selecting the best mounting method for bearings with a tapered bore. It shows suitable mounting methods, calculates the radial clearance reduction and displacement needed for the mounting procedure and generates a list of accessories and tools. F'IS experts will perform live demonstrations at the booth to show how easy this software tool is to use and what advantages it offers.
Induction heating devices facilitate the mounting of rolling bearings and other rotationally symmetric steel parts. Compared to conventional heating methods (heating furnace, heating plate, oil bath), induction heating is faster, safer and cleaner. Moreover, induction heating devices offer a maximum of safety as only the part to be mounted is heated whereas the heating device itself does not heat up.
One optical highlight at the booth will be the FAG Heater 600. Workpieces of up to 600 kg can be heated with this induction heating device from the FAG Heater family. It comes with a hoist for lifting the vertical ledge which makes it easier to position workpieces on the heater. Our experts at the booth will be happy to inform visitors about other heating methods as well.
Reliable protection against unexpected failures is provided by FAG Detector III. This offline vibration measuring device informs the user about the condition of rotating machine elements in pumps, motors, ventilators, machine tools, etc. Thanks to its new plug and play function, this handy vibration measuring instrument is now even easier to handle. Even inexperienced users can obtain some basic meaningful information about a machine's condition simply by pressing a key. This information forms the basis for condition-based maintenance. Customers benefit from significantly reduced maintenance costs and a higher level of machine or plant availability.
F'IS also supports customers in the introduction of maintenance management systems, helping them to standardise and improve maintenance processes. In this way customers can avoid, for example, redundant data maintenance and multiple data entry. This also has a positive effect on the exchange of information between departments. Ultimately, these measures result in cost savings in the field of materials management as well as a speedier performance of maintenance measures.
FAG Industrial Services GmbH (F'IS) Headquartered in Herzogenrath near Aachen, FAG Industrial Services GmbH (F'IS) offers its services, service products and maintenance training on a manufacturer-independent basis, helping customers to save on maintenance costs, optimize machine availability and avoid unexpected machine downtime. F'IS takes responsibility for Schaeffler Group Industrial's worldwide service business regarding the INA and FAG brands. In 2007, the Schaeffler Group employed a workforce of about 66,000 at 180 locations worldwide and generated sales of EUR 8.9 billion with its brands INA, LuK and FAG.
