“Oldenbroker Feld” Wind Power Plant Relies on F’IS Condition Monitoring System

Herzogenrath, May, 17th 2004 – Following a test period of several months, it was agreed that Overspeed GmbH & Co. KG, based in Oldenburg, would rely on an online condition monitoring system called WiPro (Wind Turbine Protection) supplied by F’IS (FAG Industrial Services). Aside from the cost-performance ratio, customers were particularly satisfied with the monitoring of equipment with variable speeds. Requirements by Allianz Zentrum für Technik (AZT) were another important criterion for choosing WiPro. At the request of the insurance industry, ATZ has prepared a list of requirements for condition monitoring systems that is used to certify these systems. The WiPro system made by F’IS is one of only a few systems on the market that meet these requirements and is recognized by Allianz.

“Our WiPro system was specially developed for the high requirements of the wind power industry,” explained F’IS managing director Dr. Hans-Willi Keßler. “In addition to conventional automated condition monitoring, our system is able to compress data considerably without losing any damage-relevant information.“ The system of course also includes a competent evaluation of measuring results by experts and archiving of data.

The “Oldenbroker Feld” wind power plant was established in late 2001 and comprises eight type V66 and V80 wind turbines manufactured by Vestas in Denmark. Their total output is 14.6 MW. The wind power plant is operated by WPO Windpark Oldenbroker Feld GmbH & Co. Betriebs KG, who asked Overspeed to select and support the CMS system. Projekt GmbH Oldenburg is responsible for the technical operation of the plant.
