New market segment for FAG Easy Check – Successful monitoring of cooling water pumps in Dubai high-rise – Early damage detection helps to avoid unplanned system failure and consequential damage
Herzogenrath, December 8, 2004 – FAG Industrial Services GmbH (F’IS) has discovered building technology as a new market segment for its range of low-cost vibration monitors. For the first time, six of the extremely cost-effective instruments were installed in a Dubai high-rise for permanent monitoring of an air conditioning system. The FAG Easy Checks measure the temperatures and vibration level of three cooling water pumps. Failure of only one of these pumps can significantly affect the air conditioning system of the entire building. Thanks to early trouble detection with the help of simple-to-install Easy Check systems, the customer can plan maintenance operations well ahead and thus limit the failure of a pump or system to a minimum. According to local F’IS partner Samir Odeh & Sons, the use of the monitoring systems paid off in next to no time. Shortly after installation, one of the systems triggered an alarm, i.e. a deviation of the individually configurable standard values. Supply shortages were avoided thanks to immediate maintenance operations. Now the satisfied customer plans to have Easy Check systems installed in other buildings under his care to ensure the functioning of their air conditioning systems.
Cost-effective Easy Check systems are deployed in the permanent monitoring of vibration and temperatures in continually operating machines, such as electric motors, pumps and ventilators and help to avoid unplanned downtimes of plants and individual components. Operating condition and alarm status are indicated via LED displays, “Green” signalizing the trouble-free normal condition. Apart from the non-cable version, F’IS has recently also introduced an online monitoring instrument. This also permits the monitoring of lower-speed bearings. The alarm output status is shown at the central machine control station. Here, too, alarm resets, measurements (start and restart) and the teach-in mode for “learning” the standard values can be initiated with ease.
