Mobile vibration measurement & RFID: Simple, intelligent and reliable
The all-rounder FAG Detector III is now also available with advanced RFID technology - Automatic identification of measuring points
Herzogenrath, March 16, 2007 - From April 2007, Schaeffler subsidiary FAG Industrial Services GmbH (F'IS) will offer its mobile monitoring device FAG Detector III with advanced RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. By using transponders (tags) and an RFID reader, the measuring points specified for a measuring round can be identified correctly and accurately. This will make mobile vibration and temperature monitoring with the field-proven FAG Detector III faster, easier and more reliable. The advanced RFID technology is increasingly used where bar codes - a proven automatic identification technology - reach their limits. This includes, among others, very dirty, wet and hot environments.
Mobile vibration measuring instruments such as the FAG Detector III are used for early damage detection in rotating machine elements such as rolling bearings. As with online monitoring by means of permanently installed systems, measurements with mobile offline devices must be made regularly and at exactly the same measuring points as before. Only in this way, meaningful data is obtained, enabling users to detect any incipient damage in good time. The RFID tags, used independent of manufacturers, are stuck or screwed to machines at the measuring points and identified correctly with the help of the reader which is integrated into the FAG Detector III. The tags F'IS uses can operate at ambient temperatures of up to 120°C, and are resistant to dirt, oil and acids. Existing tags operating in the right frequency range (13.56Mhz, ISO 15693) can also be read by the FAG Detector III without any problems.
