Schaeffler presents powerful solutions at METEC:
High Quality Ensures Lower Overall Costs
Schweinfurt/Düsseldorf, May 23, 2007 - At METEC, the 7th International Metallurgical Technology Trade Fair held in Düsseldorf from June 12-16, Schaeffler Group Industrial with its brands INA and FAG is presenting innovative rolling bearing and plain bearing systems that enable energy-efficient performance increases for mineral processing and rolling mill equipment. Together with its service subsidiary FAG Industrial Services (F'IS), the company is also displaying Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) solutions which take the entire lifecycle of machines and plants into consideration and lead to significantly longer life and reduced downtime.
Special highlights at the Schaeffler stand F06 in hall 7a include new X-life quality spherical roller bearings, full-complement cylindrical roller bearings, ELGES spherical plain bearings and the FAG ProCheck condition monitoring tool. These products are used in fields such as rolling mills, continuous casting plants and converters. X-life E1 spherical roller bearings of dimension series 223 and 222, for example, offer optimal stress distribution, have a high radial load carrying capacity and can also support axial loads in both directions. They are in particular suited for misaligned bearing positions as well as heavy loads and speeds. Their high quality ensures low heat generation and especially long service life.
Full-complement cylindrical roller bearings combine very high radial load carrying capacity as well as ideal axial displacement with an extremely compact, space-saving design. Movements due to thermal expansion are compensated for in the bearing. At the same time, the bearing offers identical load conditions in all axial positions and is easy to install because no axial pre-adjustment and no special tools are required. All in all, this bearing type permits high operational reliability, resulting in long machine uptime. With a wide range of ELGES plain and spherical plain bearings, Schaeffler Group Industrial also offers powerful components for applications in the steel and aluminum sectors. These economical, ready-to-fit and technically mature products are outstanding for low wear, long life and a constantly high quality standard.
Schaeffler's service subsidiary F'IS launched the FAG ProCheck, a new powerful and flexible condition monitoring system for preventing unexpected production disruptions and assisting in quality assurance. It offers high functionality at an extremely attractive price. The ATEX-certified monitoring system is suitable for use in harsh ambient conditions. It constantly records and analyzes data, including vibration, temperature and other process parameters, for example in steel or aluminum mills. Using this system, damage and its causes are detected at an early stage so that appropriate countermeasures can be initiated quickly and operating costs are reduced considerably. Thanks to its compact size and large number of analogue and digital inputs and outputs, the condition monitoring system can be integrated into the central control station and control unit (PLC and SPC) without problems. The system also features a novel expansion slot system as well as digital filter algorithms so that it can be adapted and extended as required.
FAG Industrial Services GmbH (F'IS) Headquartered in Herzogenrath near Aachen, FAG Industrial Services GmbH (F'IS) offers its services, service products and training all about maintenance on a manufacturer-independent basis, helping customers to save on maintenance costs, optimize machine availability and avoid unexpected machine downtime. F'IS takes responsibility for the Schaeffler Group's worldwide service business regarding the INA and FAG brands. In 2006, the Schaeffler Group employed a workforce of about 63,000 at 185 locations worldwide and generated sales of EUR 8.3 billion with its three brands INA, LuK and FAG.
