FAG WiPro - The Condition Monitoring System for Wind turbines

The wind industry is experiencing uninterrupted growth. Several thousand new wind turbines are erected each year. The maintenance of such systems is difficult since they are often situated in locations that are not easily accessible. In the ’offshore’ area the situation is even more dramatic. The installations there cannot be accessed over a period of months. Therefore, successful maintenance is only possible via remote monitoring.

FAG WiPro - More than Condition Monitoring

With FAG  WiPro the F’IS experts have developed a vibration monitorins system tailored to suit the needs of wind power systems. It monitors the complete drive train (rotor bearings, gear unit, generator) as well as the vibration effects of tower and rotor blades. The field-proven system has a modular structure and can therefore be adapted individually.

Apart from standard vibration monitoring, FAG  WiPro is able to monitor torque, temperatures, oil quality, etc. In addition, the system also registers speed and load signals of the wind turbine and automatically adapts the monitoring procedure to the varying operating conditions. This is extremely important, as a majority of the wind turbines runs in line with the wind conditions at a variable speed. This enables a reliable report on the condition of the wind turbine. The robust mechanical structure (IP66) is, of course, ideally suited for the rough environmental conditions.
