Optimized maintenance in wind power applications as a topic for wind turbine operators, manufacturers and suppliers – Condition monitoring as a requirement for predictive maintenance
Herzogenrath, November 30, 2004 – Organized by FAG Industrial Services GmbH (F’IS) in cooperation with FAG and INA, the workshop “Optimized Maintenance in Wind Power Applications“ in Papenburg/Lower Saxony on 23-24 November 2004 met with keen interest. The event was aimed at imparting comprehensive knowledge in rolling bearings and monitoring technology in wind power plants to wind turbine operators, manufacturers and suppliers. Workshop topics included presentations and discussion sessions on bearing technology, mounting, lubrication, damage analysis and, last but not least, condition monitoring which was also the main center of interest during the hands-on exercises. Many insurance companies consider permanent condition monitoring an essential requirement for predictive maintenance which represents a much more cost-effective alternative for wind turbine operators than the costly revision clause.
F’IS has many years of experience and comprehensive know-how in permanent condition monitoring. Its WiPro (Wind Turbine Protection) condition monitoring system was developed especially for the high demands in the wind power sector. WiPro permits strong data condensation without risking the loss of damage-relevant information. Therefore, the system is also suitable for monitoring larger plants. WiPro meets the strict requirements for condition monitoring systems in wind power plants specified by the Allianz Center for Technology (AZT) and is thus recognized by Allianz Insurance as suitable for use in predictive maintenance.
